The One and Only Sparkella

The One and Only Sparkella

The One and Only Sparkella by Channing Tatum, Illustrated by Kim Barnes

Thank you Brittany with Macmillan Children’s Publishing Company for the opportunity to review this book.  My opinion of this book is my own.

Synopsis

Ella is excited for her first day of school.  She is ready to sparkle with her perfect outfit and accessories.  She

is Sparkella.

She gets to school, and the kids and their parents are not ready for her sparklingly personality and dress.

Will Ella continue to be herself or try to fit in with the class?

My Thoughts

I love books that encourage children to be themselves.  Sometimes others will not like how we sparkle or shine but do it anyway.  I love how Channing Tatum wrote this book form a child and parent’s perspective and showed how a child could be encouraged by their parents to continue to be themselves.  I loved all the sparkly illustrations. This story reminded of how my daughter loves to do her own thing.  This is a great book for helping children not be afraid to be themselves despite not fitting in at times.
