We Made it to Sesame Street! (Adventures with Leena Post 2)

Earlier this month we had the pleasure of going to see Sesame Street Live-Make Your Magic. This was both of our first Sesame Street Live experience.  I was concerned about her attention span and if she would even sit still, but she did great. She loves Sesame Street and music, and it was filled with enough music to keep her happy and dancing.

Getting There

The show was downtown in Oklahoma City. I strongly despise driving downtown because they are always doing construction and I always get confused, but it does not take much to get me confused when driving because my sense of direction sucks, lol. GPS is always used when driving until I learn my route. One of my best friends is the same way and it is always an adventure when we drive anywhere.

Okay back to getting there.  We made it just fine with God and GPS.  We get to the parking garage, which is under the Cox Convention Center, and this is where the confusion begins, lol.  The parking garage is for the Cox Convention Center and the Chesapeake Arena where the Thunder play.  They had signs for parking for both-okay followed those fine-I parked.  Then I had to figure out how to get in the building. What do we do?  Follow other people who look like they are going to the show.  We get off the elevator to the floor where the show is at-now where do we go?  Some people pull out maps.  Did I have a map? Nope, of course not.  We walk around looking lost, another family asked me were we going to the show-yes! They replied that they did not know where the show was. At least, I’m not the only one. So, we walk until we find where it was.  Awesome!!! By now Leena and I needed a potty break before entering the show. I had to get myself together from all the confusion.

Entering the Show

I was forewarned to make sure I bring plenty of money just in case my daughter wanted something. I brought money, and wanted to at least get her one thing if she asked, but walking into the concession area and seeing those prices-I was like OMG!! Food and souvenirs were pricey. So, the plan went to ‘she does not need anything right now’ when the people were showing the items. She already had snacks and drinks. We go in and find our seats. We had floor seats. It was not too crowded.  I texted my friend who was bringing her daughter, and told her how to get to the show so she could miss out on some of the confusion.  We get settled and the show begins.

The Show

The show was awesome!! The advertisement for it said it would last two hours, but it actually lasted about one hour and fifteen minutes with one intermission. We enjoyed all the characters. It was dancing, singing, and the story line was great.

The show was about Elmo learning magic, and learning that it was okay to keep trying until you get it right. It had scenes that taught science mixed with songs. We loved that Count did the number song. That’s our jam! Everyone was excited.  I loved seeing all the kids’ reactions. I took a lot of photos and a few videos, but cannot post due to restrictions.

During the intermission, we took another potty break, and this gentleman just had to show my daughter some bubbles, lol.  So, I did buy her the bubbles and cookies with the Cookie Monster pail.  It was all worth it, and I did have the money planned for it.  To see the excitement on her face was priceless. Despite the confusion with finding the show, we would definitely attend another show, and my friend and I decided that next time we go to a show downtown we would just ride together lol.
