Hivey Goes to Town-Book Review

I had the pleasure of meeting and working with this local author during a camp for youth with disabilities. Her passion for education, especially special education shined though in person and I know it will also in her books. During our next few newsletters we will be sharing some of her books with you all and the book reviews will be posted on our blog as well.

Hivey Goes to Town

“Bears and Teddy Bears”, MeComplete Early Learning, Vol. 1, Unit 4

Written by Janice Jobey

Illustrated by Caelyn Horn

Janice, I am so glad that we had the opportunity to meet.

Synopsis

Go on an adventure with little Hivey as she explores her environment on a walk with her mom and brother Harvey.

They eat berries, tease bugs and slugs.

They raced through the ticket and run along the riverbank.

The trio had so much fun, but when momma bear had them rest out of the sun, Hivey’s adventure was not done.

As her brother and mama rest, Hivey continues exploring. Her adventure leads her into town.

What will Hivey find in town, and will she make it back to her mom and brother?

My Thoughts

This book is everything author Janice Jobey said it would be-from rhyming to help with early learning, exploring feelings, social interactions with fun and creative illustrations that flow with Hivey’s adventures.

Not only do you get to enjoy an adventure filled with curiosity, but you will also learn about the story behind the book.

Parents and teachers will also be able to utilize the learning resources provided by Janice Jobey.
