Inspire Literacy Roundup 2-Children’s Thanksgiving Books
Just in time for Thanksgiving. This roundup is for children’s books about Thanksgiving. These books help children learn about thankfulness in many different ways.
1. Be Thankful, Pout-Pout Fish by Deborah Diesen, Illustrated by Dan Hanna
Mr. Fish has a thanksgiving celebration with all his friends under the sea. They bring different tasty dishes to the celebration. Mr. Fish is grateful for all the food, but most of all he is thankful to be with friends. This is one book that toddlers will love hearing read and imagining being at the under the sea celebration. My daughter loved looking at Mr. Fish and his friends.
2. Llama Llama Gives Thanks by Anna Dewdney*
In Llama Llama Gives Thanks, it’s Thanksgiving time for Llama Llama and his family! That means yummy foods and autumn leaves and being thankful for everything from pumpkin pies to blue skies. Thanksgiving may only come once year, but in Llama’s family, giving thanks is always here!
3. God Gave Us Thankful Hearts by Lisa Tawn Bergren, Illustrated by David Hohn*
Adventurous Lil Pup is bummed that hibernating season will soon be coming to the Great North Woods. Why should so many of his friends have to go in for the winter and leave Lil Pup without pals? Mama reminds her little wolf that not all animals hibernate, and how he can be grateful for the beautiful autumn season – for jumping in leaf piles, eating apple treats, and celebrating the wonders of fall with his forest friends.
4. Biscuit is Thankful by Alyssa Satin Capucilli, Illustrated by Pat Schories*
Biscuit is thankful for his bone, his biscuits, and lots more, too. Sweet puppy! Woof!
5. Five Silly Turkeys by Salina Yoon*
Toddlers will love the silly Thanksgiving turkeys in this fun counting book full of silly turkeys doing very silly things! From twirling on a dance floor to being chased by a bee to tanning in the sun, these are no ordinary Thanksgiving turkeys.
